“2018 had a wet winter that provided sufficient water through the dry, warm, even-keeled season. Ripening was slow under full canopies, and the drawn-out harvest allowed producers to pick when they wanted. A spectacular year, with wines that are rich and dark, but detailed, restrained in style and very terroir driven”. 99 points, The Wine Spectator
The 2018 vintage of the Alice Block has produced a Cabernet that is very Bordeaux like. It does have the typical expression of Rutherford, but more in a Rutherford meets Bordeaux way. On the nose, there is a ton of wild berry fruits with floral notes of lavender and violet as well as crème brûlée, allspice and pepper. On the palate, cassis, black fruits graphite and chocolate give our 2018 Cabernet a rich, deep complexity. The tannins finish with a cocoa powder and mineral texture, ending in a lengthy finish. It is approachable now but will age for years to come
