Vineyard Notes:

The majority of the 2013 Silenus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our estate vineyard located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. This is a very special location adjacent to Dry Creek and the vineyard has a very long history of producing extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon. From the 1970’s through the early 2000’s a portion of the vineyard was sold to Robert Mondavi and used in his Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Mr. Mondavi would personally visit each year to inspect and review the vineyard. The balance of the wine comes from neighboring vineyards that share the same soil compositions and Cabernet Sauvignon clones.

Tasting Notes:

As is typical for the vineyard, the wine has exceptional dark red to purple color. Ripe red fruit, cedar, vanilla, chocolate and cinnamon on the noise lead to a lush and rich wine with smooth mouthfeel. Flavors of red plum, cherry, creamy oak and dark chocolate dominate the palate. The finish is smooth and satisfying. An excellent wine to pair with filet mignon or rich creamy cheeses.
